(GIRARD TOWNSHIP) – Three people received minor injuries in a weekend rollover accident in Branch County’s Girard Township.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 7:30 AM Sunday on southbound I-69 south of Dayburg Road. 70 year old Dennis Bates of Kalamazoo was driving his pickup south when he fell asleep. The truck crossed the median, and the northbound lanes of I-69, before his pickup rolled over in the ditch.
All three individuals were trapped in the truck and were removed by the Coldwater Fire Department.
Bates and 64 year old Kim Bates were taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. A passenger in the truck, 70 year old Joyce Whimper-Frost of Kalamazoo, was taken by Life Care Ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and was treated for non life threatening injuries.
