WAYNE TOWNSHIP – A man has been arrested after Cass County Sheriff's Deputies found him in a home that wasn't his.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department was called to investigate an active alarm at a residence in the 52,000 block of Lake Shore Drive in Wayne Township. Deputies arrives and observed all the doors to the residence were locked. They also noticed some movement inside the residence and then called to the home owner, who was out of town.

K-9 Deputy Faust and his handler were called to search the home, and found a 57 year old Dowagiac man, barricaded in a room in the basement. Deputies also found firearms and chainsaws the subject was attempting to steal from the residence.

The suspect was taken to the Cass County Jail and lodged on several charges including breaking and entering; larceny, felon in possession of a firearm and resisting and obstructing deputies.
