In a recently formed exploratory committee chaired by Swick Broadcasting's own, Steve Swick, along with Terry Archabold from Dry Dock Marine, Jeff Bell, and Mike McBride are looking at potentially bringing championship boat racing to Steuben County as early as 2020.
A proposal to bring the NGKF1 Powerboat Championship National Boat Racing Series has been made, which could potentially bring the nation's top boat racing stars, national television exposure, along with a potential of 200,000 plus spectators over a three day event into the tri-state area.
Swick discussed the huge positive and economic impact to Angola, Steuben County, and the entire tri-state region, "The potentials for this event are endless, especially with the hope that we can bring in new people to the great quality of life and assets of Angola and Steuben County Lake region and the beauty it has to offer and hope that we can do our best to encourage them to return for years to come."
The committee, along with the Indiana State Tourism Bureau, in cooperation with Lt. Governor, Susan Crouch are all attempting to bring the event together with Pokagon State Park as the backdrop along the First Basin.
