(AUBURN) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the death of former Sheriff Don Lauer.
In a posting on the Department’s Facebook page, they say that Lauer was 62 years old.
Lauer started with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office in 1991. He held the positions of Deputy, Detective and Sergeant before being elected Sheriff in 2011. He held that position until he retired in 2018. He returned to the Sheriff’s Office in 2023 and was working part-time.
The post says that Lauer was dedicated to protecting the citizens of DeKalb County and will be sadly missed.
