(LAGRANGE) – A Wolcottville man has been sentenced in the 2022 kidnapping and rape of a woman.
LaGrange County Prosecutor Travis Glick says 44 year old Foua Joseph Tofiga was sentenced to 95 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
In 2022, Tofiga kidnapped a 35 year old Sturgis, Michigan woman and held her captive for two weeks. During the time she was being held, the victim says Tofiga would bite her, along with hitting and stabbing her with a knife.
The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for 209 North Main Street in Wolcottville, where they arrested Tofiga.
Tofiga was found guilty on March 27 by a LaGrange Circuit Court jury of felony counts of rape, intimidation and strangulation; 5 felony counts of aggravated battery and two felony counts of criminal confinement. He was also found guilty of 4 misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and for being a habitual offender.
