(COLDWATER) – Tibbits Opera House has found a new Artistic Director.
Tibbits officials say that Brian Sage will take over as Artistic Director at the close of the current season. Sage succeeds Chad Tallon, who was appointed to serve as Interim Artistic Director for the 2024 Tibbits Summer Theater Season.
Currently directing “Rent”, Sage brings a wealth of experience and distinguished artistic vision that promises to enrich the theater’s legacy.
In a media release, Sage says his relationship with Tibbits Summer Theater began in the summer of 1994 as an actor, and has continued to the present day.
Sage is a seasoned professional in the theatre industry, holding a B.A. in Theater Performance from Western Michigan University and an MFA in Acting from Wayne State University. His career spans a diverse range of theatrical genres, from classical to contemporary musical theatre. Sage has earned acclaim at esteemed regional theaters such as Tipping Point Theatre and The Encore Musical Theatre Company, garnering multiple nominations for the prestigious Wilde Awards.
Christine Delaney, Executive Director at Tibbits Opera House, expressed enthusiasm about Sage's appointment. Delaney says she is thrilled to welcome Brian as the Tibbits Summer Theatre Artistic Director. She says with his rich history at Tibbits and extensive experience as an actor, director, and educator, Brian brings an inspiring perspective to the team and they eagerly anticipate his leadership.
Sage emphasizes his vision, stating that he wants to build upon the legacy of those who have come before me. He says both Charles Burr and Peter Riopelle are dear friends who worked tirelessly to keep professional summer theatre a viable staple of Coldwater and Branch County..
Sage says he will focus on programming that entertains and explores diverse storytelling, expanding the human experience. He says by leveraging his production and management experience, he will aim to enhance operations to ensure Tibbits delivers exceptional theatre.
