Two Coldwater Residents Graduate From 144th MSP Trooper Recruit School

LANSING – Two Coldwater residents are part of the 61 members of the new Michigan State Police Troopers who graduated from the 144th Trooper Recruit School.

The most recent Trooper Recruit School started on July 9 with 85 prospective troopers at the MSP Training Academy in Lansing. Recruits received training in patrol techniques. report writing, ethics, cultural diversity and impact bias, decision making, leadership, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing, firearms, water safety, defensive tactics and precision driving.

Coldwater’s Robert Porter and Faheem Abdullah graduated with the class and will be assigned to the State Police Post in Marshall. Abdullah received the Outstanding Performance Award, while Porter was given the Team Building Award.

Also assigned to the Marshall Post is Andrew Stoll of Sherwood.

Including the 61 new graduates, there are approximately 1,170 troopers assigned statewide, and a total of 1,870 enlisted members in the Michigan State Police.
