Reed Wins Outstanding Educator Award At Indiana Thespians State Conference

Prairie Heights Theatre Troupe Members at the 2023 Indiana Thespians State Conference

SOUTH BEND, IN - An area teacher received a high honor on Saturday at the Indiana Thespians State Conference.

Prairie Heights High School teacher and theatre director Corrine Reed was awarded the 2023 “Outstanding Educator” at the state conference.

This year’s state conference was held at St. Mary’s College in South Bend.

Reed also had some students who won awards at the event.

Senior Sammy Updike won “Best Supporting Actor” in the Prairie Heights submission of The Bible in 30 Minutes Or Less. Junior Alyssa Adkins won 2nd place in the technical theatre challenge at the conference.

Isaac Derbyshire was named “Distinguished Senior”.

The Indiana Thespians is the state chapter organization of the Educational Theatre Association, which also sponsors the International Thespian Society.

The organization supports the work of over 100 Thespian and Junior Thespian Troupes serving grades 6-12 in Indiana. Both the Prairie Heights High School and Middle School Troupes belong to the organization.
