ANGOLA, IN – Two young boys were injured Saturday night in a Steuben County hit and run crash.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred in the 1500 block of West County Road 275 North on Saturday night at about 8:55 PM.
First units on the scene found two boys, ages 12 and 13, who were injured near the road. Reports indicate the 12-year-old was transported to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The 13-year-old was initially transported to Cameron Hospital, then flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
The 13 year old was listed in grave condition on Sunday afternoon.
The names of the victims are being withheld in order to give the families involved ample time to make all necessary notifications.
An initial crash scene investigation revealed that an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on 275 North and struck the juveniles whom were walking along the roadway. The vehicle, and driver, involved in the crash left the scene before the arrival of first responders.
The incident remains under investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Detectives.
