LAGRANGE - LaGrange County Relay For Life is back for their annual event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The event will take place all day Saturday at Lakeland High School. Community members of all ages take part by taking turns walking around a track lined with luminaria bags honoring local survivors of cancer and the many who lost their battle with the terrible disease.
Organizers say after being at other locations for the last few years, the 2022 Relay is back at the Lakeland High School football field.
Registration starts at 9 AM. The opening ceremonies will begin around 10 AM followed by the survivors lap.
The LaGrange County event will feature a variety of activities for families throughout the day. As it gets dark, organizers will light the luminaria bags surrounding the track in a memorable luminaria ceremony.
The Luminaria will be at 10 PM, and then the closing ceremonies.
With the return of the Relay For Life event to Lakeland High School, organizers are calling it a homecoming. Something new this year is the naming of a Homecoming Kings, Queen, Prince and Princess. The winners will be announced, based on among of money they were able to raise for this year’s Relay event.
Relay For Life is the world's largest volunteer-based fundraising event. For more then 36 years, communities across the world have come together to honor and remember loved ones and take action for lifesaving change.
