(LANSING) – Unemployment rates went up from May to June around Southern Michigan.
According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, St. Joseph County saw their unemployment increase from 5.7% to 5.9%. Cass County also had a jump in their unemployment from 5.7% to 5.9%. Branch County’s unemployment rate went from 5% in May to 5.3% in June. Hillsdale County had an increase in unemployment from 5.9% to 6.1%.
Statewide, the June unemployment rate was at 5.4%, which is up from 5.3% in May.
Michigan’s regional unemployment rates ranged from 4.5% to 7.3% in the month of June, with a median rate gain of 0.3%.
