(LAGRANGE) – The LaGrange County Commission has approved some changes and updates to the Tax Commission.
During Monday’s meeting, County Attorney Kurt Bachman shared with the Commission that when the County Council approved the increase in the County’s Innkeepers Tax last week, it also allowed for updates to the Tax Commission, which hasn’t been changed since it was created in 1993.
Bachman presented the Commissioners with six items for their consideration, and shares the first three. ...... {LISTEN}.
Under the old ordinance, most of the members of the Tax Commission had to have innkeeper experience. The new rules say only two members have to have that kind of background.
The other two changes related to the Auditor’s Office. The first is having a deadline of June 1 to get budgets to the Auditor so they can present them to the County Council. The other would allow the Auditor to have copies of the Commission records to be able to comply with requests that come in from the public.
The Commission unanimously approved the changes.
