(COLDWATER) – Three people arrested in connection with a stolen car case have all been charged.
Branch County District Court officials say that Shawn Thompson, Amber Terry and James LaRue, all of Fort Wayne are facing charges.
The Branch County Sheriff’s office says on Sunday, a license plate reader operated by the Coldwater Police Department identified a stolen vehicle out of Indiana. Local law enforcement initiated a coordinated search, with deputies eventually finding the vehicle in a parking lot on Willowbrook Road.
To reduce the risk of a pursuit and ensure public safety, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot. The stolen vehicle was successfully recovered without incident, and the three suspects were taken into custody and lodged in the Branch County Jail.
A search of the stolen vehicle uncovered methamphetamine along with brass knuckles.
LaRue is charged with possession of meth and ecstasy along with possession of a dangerous weapon. Thompson is charged with possession of meth and receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle.
Terry is a co-defendant in both cases.
Court officials say that all three will have their probable cause hearings on May 1 and then the preliminary examinations on May 7.
