MATTESON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities are trying to determine what caused a Thursday night pole barn fire in Matteson Township.
According to Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber his department was called to 674 Farrand Road at 7:43 PM, after a neighbor saw smoke from the building and called 911. When they arrived, firefighters saw flames that were coming out of the roof of a 40 by 70 foot pole barn.
The Colon, Sherwood and Union City Fire Departments were called in for mutual aid in battling the blaze which was finally put out. Wilber says damage estimated stand at $250,000.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
