(ANGOLA) - A Fort Wayne man has reached a major milestone on the trails at Pokagon State Park, completing the park's Hell's Point Challenge for the 125th time. Park officials say Steve Weaver, 75, finished his latest eight-mile hike on December 12. The challenge, which opened in 2017, follows a mapped route covering most of the park and requires hikers to photograph specific waypoints. More than 100,000 finishers have been recorded since 2020. Weaver, a retired computer programmer and Purdue University alumnus, has hiked more than 1,000 miles at Pokagon this year alone and often completes the challenge multiple times a week. Park staff say he enjoys watching the park change with the seasons and frequently helps fellow hikers along the way.
