(ORLAND) - Steuben County residents will have a chance next week to review possible routes for a new high-voltage power line planned in northern Indiana.

The project is called Hiple to Helix.

What Is Being Proposed

Republic Transmission says the Indiana portion of the project would run from the Hiple Substation in LaGrange County to the Indiana-Michigan border in Steuben County.

From there, the Michigan portion would continue to a planned substation in Calhoun County, Michigan.

Project Details

Republic Transmission says the project would include about 35 miles of double-circuit 345 kilovolt transmission line, depending on the final route.

The listed capital investment is about $140 million.

Republic Transmission is also holding open houses July 8 in Topeka and July 9 in LaGrange.
