(HILLSDALE) - A former Hillsdale County resident has pleaded no contest to a child sexual assault charge and is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

Kevin Murphy, 58, entered the plea Monday to one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under the age of 13.

Murphy was originally charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct following an investigation by the Hillsdale City Police Department. The charges were filed in May 2025.

Court records indicate the case involved allegations concerning two young victims.

Murphy was taken into custody in Kentucky in March and returned to Hillsdale County to face the charges.

He remains lodged in the Hillsdale County Jail pending sentencing.

Murphy is scheduled to be sentenced June 29 in Hillsdale County Circuit Court.
