(AUBURN) - A 1958 Chevrolet Impala coupe once owned by Buddy Holly is set to headline this month's Auburn Spring Car Auction.
The Cay Coral Impala, listed as Lot 390, is scheduled to be offered during the Kruse Auctions Auburn Spring sale in Auburn.
Auction materials describe the car as Buddy Holly's first major purchase after his first hit single, adding to its significance as a rock-and-roll collectible.
The car was later purchased in 2010 by the real Peggy Sue, the woman whose name inspired Holly's 1957 hit song.
The listing says the car features its numbers-matching 283 cubic-inch, 230-horsepower V-8 engine and has been comprehensively restored by Chevy Craft of Texas.
The Impala is also described as well-documented and accompanied by various records.
