(KOSCIUSKO COUNTY) - A Valentine's Day dash to the hospital turned into a police-assisted delivery for one Kosciusko County family.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on February 14, Katelyn and Josh Wuthrich called 911 to report they were rushing to the hospital because their baby was coming earlier than expected.

Indiana State Police Trooper Austin Slone spotted what he believed was their vehicle on State Road 15 and activated his emergency lights. As the driver explained the situation, Milford Police Deputy Marshal Dallas Rice arrived to assist.

The two officers escorted the couple to the hospital.

Moments after pulling into the emergency room parking lot, Katelyn delivered baby Ellie in the front seat of the car.

Indiana State Police say only about 15 minutes passed from the time the couple left home to their arrival at the hospital.

Both mother and baby are doing well.
