(ANGOLA) - A 44-year-old Angola man has been arrested on multiple felony charges following a more than year-long investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff's Office into allegations of child molesting.

Martin Joseph Boyd Jr. was taken into custody without incident around noon Monday in the 1400 block of North Wayne Street in Angola on an arrest warrant charging him with eight counts of Level 1 felony child molesting, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities say the warrant stems from a 14-month investigation that began in January 2025 into allegations Boyd had sexual intercourse on multiple occasions with a female victim younger than 14 years old at the time.

Investigators allege the incidents occurred between 2020 and 2024 at several locations throughout Steuben County.

During the investigation, detectives collected potential biological evidence from at least two suspected locations. A search warrant was later obtained for Boyd's DNA, and all evidence was submitted to the Indiana State Police DNA Laboratory for analysis.

In February 2026, detectives were notified that Boyd had been identified as a contributor to one of the DNA samples recovered, authorities said.

Boyd was booked into the Steuben County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.

Authorities emphasize that a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
