(ANGOLA) - Steuben County officials have awarded a construction contract for a long-planned roundabout at County Road 100 North and County Road 200 West, with the winning bid coming in well below estimates.
Brooks Construction submitted the lowest bid at about $2.28 million, under the $2.7 million engineering estimate. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with completion targeted for 2027.
The project, first proposed in 2018 to improve traffic flow and safety at the busy four-way stop, was delayed by land acquisition disputes and other reviews. Officials say the roundabout is expected to reduce congestion and crashes at the intersection.
