(SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP) - A Bronson man was arrested Saturday night following a police pursuit that began as a routine traffic stop in Sherwood Township.
According to the Branch County Sheriff's Department, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle at approximately 9:07 p.m. for an equipment violation and a missing license plate. The male driver failed to stop and fled, leading deputies on a pursuit through the township.
The chase ended when the suspect attempted to drive through a snow-covered field in nearby Union Township and became stuck. Deputies then took the driver into custody. A female passenger in the vehicle was briefly detained at the scene before being released.
During the investigation, deputies located suspected narcotics inside the vehicle. Authorities also determined the driver had an active outstanding warrant from another county.
The man now faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, along with drug-related offenses.
