
ANGOLA, IN - On Friday night, March 17th (3023), at approximately 6:00 PM the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located in the area of 4400 W 105 S Angola located in Steuben County reference a domestic situation involving a firearm.
Upon arrival, Sheriff Deputies met with the male victim and a female witness inside the residence. According to their statements, a male subject known to them as James D. Donbrock, allegedly entered the residence without permission and pointed a handgun at the victim. During the incident, Donbrock threatened the victim with the firearm and struck the victim on the head with the firearm causing a minor injury.
The witness was able to leave the residence unharmed, while the victim attempted to talk to Donbrock. The victim was able to flee the residence and called 911. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police responded to the scene. During the initial investigation, it was found Donbrock had left the residence prior to their arrival. The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
Donbrock was located a short time later at his residence in the area of 4400 W CR 150 S Angola. Donbrock was taken into custody and transported to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office for an interview. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau conducted interviews with the victim, witness and Donbrock.
Upon the conclusion of the interviews, Donbrock, age 54 of Angola, Indiana, was arrested for Burglary, Resident Unlawful Entry – a level 2 felony, Intimidation – a level 5 felony, Battery Committed with a Deadly Weapon – a level 5 felony, Pointing a Firearm – a level 6 felony and Domestic Battery – an A misdemeanor. Donbrock is being held without bond pending an initial hearing.
A search warrant was obtained for Donbrock’s residence to look for and seize items of evidence related to the incident. During the search of the residence, items believed to be related to the incident were located and seized by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. Additional criminal charges related to the search of Donbrock’s residence are pending reference further investigation.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police.
