INDIANAPOLIS - More than a thousand Indiana National Guardsmen have been called to duty in the battle against the coronavirus.

In one of the recent waves, 400 members of the Indiana National Guard received special training at Camp Atterbury. During their health mission, the National Guard will not provide resident care, but will relieve other duties so the nursing home staff can focus on other care.

Two more waves of Indiana National Guard members will be deployed to additional long-term care facilities over the next three weeks.
