INDIANAPOLIS – Jobless rates continued to drop around Northeast Indiana during the month of September.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says LaGrange County dropped six-tenths of a percent from 3.9 to 3.3 percent. One year ago the County's jobless rate was 2.3 percent.
Noble County and Elkhart County had the biggest drops in the area, both seeing their jobless rates go down eight-tenths of a percent. Noble County dropped from 5.7 to 4.9 percent, which Elkhart County dropped from 6.1 to 5.3 percent.
DeKalb County saw a drop of six-tenths of a percent, going from 5.2 to 4.6 percent. Steuben County dropped five-tenths of a percent from 4.6 to 4.1 percent.
Statewide, the jobless rate was 6.2 percent, down from 6.4 percent in August.
One year ago, Indiana's jobless rate was 3.2 percent. Indiana's September jobless rate was below the national rate of 7.9 percent
