ANGOLA, IN - A motorcyclist has died from injuries following a Saturday morning accident in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release officers and emergency responders were notified at approximately 6:24 a.m. of a personal injury accident on Bayview Road north of County Road 275 North in rural Pleasant Township. Reports indicated a motorcycle had crashed and a victim was down on the ground.
First units on the scene located 37 year old Anthony C. Strawser of Angola, Indiana deceased at the scene.
Investigators say Strawser was traveling northbound on Bayview Rd when, for an unknown reason, he went off the right side of the roadway near Lake James Lane 280 causing Strawser to lose control of the maroon 2004 Suzuki motorcycle he was operating. Authorities say he strike a road sign.
Strawser was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol and speed appear to be involved in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
Assisting the Sheriff's Office at the scene were Angola City Police, Angola Fire Rescue, Steuben County EMS, and the Steuben County Coroner's Office.
