City of Auburn Power Outages Fully Restored
Friday, June 12, 2020

The Wednesday storms seen all across the tri-state region were particularly felt in DeKalb County as storms with high winds caused a series of isolated power outages through the afternoon and evening, leaving a series of many calls that kept Auburn Electric busy for much of the night.

According to a post on the Auburn, Indiana Government Facebook page, the first of the calls began as crews responded to a downed tree on Melony Lane just shortly after 2:53 P.M. which left about 39 customers without power, with trees and limbs continuing to fall all across the area throughout the afternoon.

One of the hardest hit areas was in the area of Eckhart Avenue and East Seventh Street that saw a snapped pole sparked a fire. Auburn Police arrived and then blocked off the area until Auburn Electric crews could respond and work to remedy the situation. About 1,125 customers experienced an outage of approximately 40 minutes while crews locked out the circuit in order to safely isolate the section of the primary line for repair.

A heartfelt thanks to impacted customers for their communication, patience and cooperation as line crews worked as quickly as possible to restore power.

While the day and night were tiresome, service was restored to all Auburn Electric customers by 11:12 p.m. Wednesday evening.
