On Tuesday Night at approximately 10:13 P.M. on I-69 Southbound at mile marker 329 near Auburn, DeKalb County Sheriff's responded to a single car crash involving a 2013 Ford Escape.
Aureliano Ruiz, Jr., age 58 of Auburn, was traveling south on I-69 when he said that he fell asleep driving and then woke himself up driving off the West side of the roadway. He then struck an INDOT road sign with the front passenger side of his vehicle, and then continued into the ditch coming to a rest facing south.
Ruiz, Jr. was transported from the scene to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment, where he complained of pain in his right arm.
The crash is still under investigation.
