Saturday Evening Accident Victim Transported

Orland emergency units were called to the 9600 block of US 20 west just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening for a motor vehicle accident with injuries and possible entrapment. An Officer with the Indiana Conservation Office was in the area and quickly responded to control the scene and provided care to the entrapped person until other emergency units arrived. The Orland department requested that Salem FD send personnel to set up a landing zone. Salem firefighters also assisted Orland firefighters with the extrication. The seriously injured driver was the only person in the pick-up truck which appeared to have been involved with a camper being pulled by another vehicle. The patient was transported by Steuben County EMS to the landing zone at Lake Missionary Church and transported by helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital.The Steuben County Sheriffs Department investigated the accident. No other information including the name of the victim, is available at this time.
