Firefighter Recognized for 52 Years of Service

An area fire department has recognized one of their volunteer firefighters for his 52 years of service.

Jack Sperry, long time Orland Volunteer Firefighter, was recognized for his years of service and dedication to the Orland Fire Department. Sperry began his firefighting career in 1967 and retired from the Fire Department board of trustee’s just two months ago.

Orland fire board president Jim Milleman said , “Not just the fire department, but the entire community" owes Sperry a debt of gratitude for his service.

In addition, the department also expressed appreciation to Sperry's wife Nancy, noting that "spouses and significant others of volunteer firefighters are also a large part of the firefighter family".
