(COLDWATER) - A Bronson man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he broke into a home, set it on fire, and stole a vehicle before fleeing the state. Twenty-one-year-old Dallas Michael Gump is charged with second-degree arson, second-degree home invasion, and unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle. The charges stem from a September 26 incident on Hollow Road involving a mobile home fire, burglary, and a stolen pickup truck.
According to court documents, investigators believe the fire was intentionally set after the home was entered and items were taken, including a home security system. The homeowner's red truck was also reported stolen. Gump was later located in Kentucky, where police found him driving the stolen vehicle with the missing security system still inside. He was extradited back to Branch County to face the charges. Judge Brent Weigel set Gump's bond at $100,000. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Dec. 23, followed by a preliminary examination on Dec. 30.
