(ANGOLA) - The severe weather outlook has improved for northeast Indiana, but residents are still being urged to stay alert through tonight.

Tia Justice of Indiana Storm Chasers says the latest Storm Prediction Center outlook lowered northeast Indiana from an Enhanced Risk to a Slight Risk for severe weather. However, she cautioned that a Slight Risk still means severe weather remains possible.

Justice said rain-cooled air and a stalled weather boundary have helped limit some storm development, but she stressed that the situation remains volatile.

"The coast is not clear by any stretch of the imagination," Justice said.

Justice noted that the highest severe weather threat remains farther west and south in Indiana, particularly near the Illinois state line.

She urged residents to remain vigilant, have multiple reliable ways to receive weather warnings and be prepared to act if warnings are issued.
