(SYRACUSE) -- Indiana utility regulators are taking public feedback directly from customers as concerns over rising energy costs continue across the state.

One of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission's northeast Indiana listening sessions was held Saturday morning at Syracuse Town Hall.

The statewide listening tour follows the commission's broader inquiry into utility affordability and is designed to gather direct input from customers struggling with electric and gas bills.

IURC Chairman Andy Zay says the sessions are intended to help commissioners better understand what Hoosiers are experiencing and explore both short- and long-term solutions.

Residents are encouraged to bring copies of their utility bills and share specific concerns.

Additional listening sessions are still scheduled in Goshen, New Haven, Indianapolis and other cities through April.

The commission says feedback from the tour could help shape future formal or informal action on utility costs.
