(BUTLER) - High school students can find an affordable prom dress -- or even receive one at no cost -- during a special event Saturday hosted by the Roots of Giving Butler Food Pantry in partnership with From This Day Forward Ministry.

The event, called "Once Upon a Prom," runs from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 28 at the pantry, 114 W. Oak St.

Dresses are priced at $20, but organizers are seeking community sponsors to cover the cost so participating students can take a dress home for free. Each student will also receive a gift bag as part of the experience.

Organizers say the goal is to create a memorable day and ensure every young woman has the opportunity to attend prom without financial stress.

Community members may sponsor one or more students or donate to support the event.
