(AUBURN) - A Kendallville man escaped injury Tuesday morning after crashing his car into a tree, but his 4-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with a cut on her forehead. According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, 28-year-old Kristian Krontz-Grate was driving east on County Road 68 around 11 a.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Deputies said Krontz-Grate lost control of his vehicle in slushy road conditions, veered off the road, and struck a tree. Krontz-Grate was not hurt, but his young passenger was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
