(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been fined following the death of an Indiana Department of Correction inmate who was injured while working at Chain O’ Lakes State Park earlier this year.

According to officials, the inmate was performing lumber work for the DNR at the park when the injury occurred. The individual later died as a result of those injuries.

An investigation by the Indiana Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) found multiple safety violations related to the incident. As a result, the DNR received two citations — one for failing to implement required safety precautions during a logging operation and another for failing to report the inmate’s hospitalization.
