(ANGOLA) - Trine University has named Alyssa Krause as the new head coach of the Thunder women's soccer program.

Krause most recently served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she spent the past three seasons with the Cougars. She was elevated to associate head coach during the 2025 season.

She replaces Aidan Lang, who served as interim head coach last season after Gary Boughton departed in February 2025 to take the women's soccer head coaching position at NCAA Division II South Carolina Beaufort.

Trine posted a 9-4-6 record last season while playing a challenging schedule. The Thunder recorded six ties, including one shootout win and one shootout loss in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament, and a 1-1 home draw against Washington University (Mo.), which went on to win its second consecutive NCAA Division III national championship.

Trine athletic director Matt Land said Krause's experience across multiple levels of collegiate soccer will benefit the program as it continues to develop.

At Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Krause served as the team's film and travel coordinator and contributed to two Ohio Valley Conference Tournament semifinal appearances. She also worked as the program's sport scientist, using GPS data to help design and optimize team training plans.

Prior to her time at SIUE, Krause was an assistant coach at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2022. She later shared interim head coaching duties and helped guide the Salukis to their first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament appearance, an 8-5-4 record and the most wins and goals in program history.

Krause gained her first head coaching experience at NAIA Saint Xavier University in Chicago during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

She has strong ties to northeast Indiana. Krause earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Huntington University in 2014. She began her collegiate coaching career at Taylor University in Upland during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, where she led scouting and recruiting efforts and coached the junior varsity team. From 2018 to 2020, she served as an assistant coach at Purdue Fort Wayne, focusing on team analytics and performance. In 2018, the Mastodons recorded the best 10-match start in program history.

Krause also holds a master's degree in applied exercise science from Concordia University Chicago,
