Original Story:

LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN - Multiple agencies throughout Northeast Indiana and the multi-state region have provided assistance or responded to incident in LaGrange County near the LaGrange-Steuben County line Wednesday morning.

Authorities reported just before 7:30 a.m. that there was "an active incident involving law enforcement in the area of 50 N 925 E and 1050 E in LaGrange County."

That area is roughly 3 miles northwest of Prairie Heights Community Schools, and north of Brushy Prairie on 20.

Authorities advised the local school district, Prairie Heights Community Schools, that several residents who live nearby were advised to stay in their homes as a safety precaution. Busses were prevented from entering what law enforcement called "the incident zone."

The Lagrange County Sheriff's Department said the situation is contained to that area.

School operated as normal at Prairie Heights Community Schools.

While social media has been rampant with comments as to what has been happening north of Brushy Prairie, law enforcement have not released an official press release.

It is likely authorities will release a statement at some point Wednesday.

For now, if you live in the area, please be aware and use caution. Above all, listen to all instruction from law enforcement officers in that area if you are in the "incident zone."
