ANGOLA, IN - The Angola City Police Department responded to shots being fired near Trine University early Sunday morning.

According to a news release from authorities, at 2 a.m. officers with the Angola Police Department and Trine University Safety were alerted to a report of gun shots being fired near campus.

Officers with the Angola Police Department were already working patrol on the University campus, so they arrived on the scene within seconds from the initial call.

The initial investigation determined that an individual who was not affiliated with the university in any way had attended an off-campus party where an altercation occurred. The individual allegedly discharged a firearm into the air, and immediately left the scene from the campus.

No individuals were injured.

It was an isolated incident; however, authorities say it is an ongoing investigation.

Anyone who has any first-hand knowledge of the incident are encouraged to contact the Angola Police Department at 260-665-2121.
