Indiana Firefighters Are Opposing House Bill 1575
Monday, April 24, 2023

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana firefighters are reportedly opposing House Bill 1575, which would change the voting structure of the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission.

Hoosier Firefighters say this would make it more difficult to pass regulations.

The bill would also increase the number of commission members from 11 to 12, with six members representing special interest groups.

Opponents of the bill believe it would allow these groups to control the two-thirds majority required for regulation approval, which they say potentially would prevent updates to safety codes and lead to more house fires.
