KENDALLVILLE, IN - Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to an apartment complex in Kendallville where a male suspect fired multiple rounds at officers.

According to the Indiana Sate Police, things first unfolded when Troopers responded to reports of shots fired at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Berry Lane.

First units on the scene ascertained that an unidentified suspect was firing from a balcony along the Drake Terrace apartments towards the officers.

Authorities at the scene worked to safely evacuate civilians from the rest of the apartment building.

Several shots were reportedly exchanged between the suspect and lawn enforcement officers from multiple jurisdictions and SWAT teams.

Early reports from late last night indicate there were no police officers or civilians injured during the incident.
