Changes In Legal Counsel Leads To Third Delay In Murder Trial
By: Sheila McCrea - Tuesday, April 19, 2022

CENTREVILLE, MI – A murder trial scheduled to start on Tuesday in Michigan’s St. Joseph County Circuit Court has had another delay due to an attorney change.

According to court reports, 35-year-old Michael Lafler is charged with murder in the strangulation death of 33-year-old Chelsea Wallen in her Colon home.

Lafler was Wallen’s boyfriend at the time of her death.

The defendant is being held on a $1 million bond.

Court records indicate that Lafler’s new lawyer needs time to review the case after the change was requested on March 31st.

This is reportedly the third time the case was delayed.

The next hearing and trial date has not been scheduled yet.
