EAST LANSING, MI – Branch County’s unemployment rate went up in January to four-point-three percent.

According to data released on Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, Branch County had the 13th lowest unemployment rate among Michigan’s 83 counties after the jobless rate the previous month stood at three-point-nine percent.

January unemployment rates were up in neighboring counties.

St. Joseph County had the sixth lowest unemployment rate in the state at three-point-nine percent, Hillsdale County was at five percent while Calhoun County went up to five-point-six percent.

Michigan’s unemployment rate in January was four-point-nine percent.
