COLDWATER, MI – Authorities in Branch County Michigan are looking for the driver of a passenger car who allegedly ran away from the scene of a two vehicle crash involving injury on Friday morning.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash involving a car and a pickup truck happened at 5:55 a.m. on North Michigan Avenue near State Road. Investigators say Don Barton, age 46 of Colon, was driving his pickup north on North Michigan when a southbound passenger car went left of center and struck Barton’s pickup head on at a angle.

Barton suffered leg injuries.

The driver of the car fled north bound on foot just before deputies arrived on the scene.

Evidence in snow showed the fleeing driver was picked up by another vehicle north of the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by Branch County Sheriff Deputies.
