Carra, Gubernatorial Candidates Speak Saturday Night
By: Mike Stiles - Monday, August 30, 2021

STURGIS – Five candidates vying for office in 2022 met with the public during a Saturday night event in Sturgis.

State Representative Steve Carra hosted his “Replace Upton Tour” event at Rouch World. Carra, a first term State Representative who represents the 59th District in Lansing, announced earlier this year that he is running against U.S. Congressman Fred Upton for the Republican nomination for the 6th U.S. District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Carra says one of the questions he is asked is why run for a U.S. Congressional seat when he is doing so well in Lansing. Carra says he's honored by that, he says there is a serous chance here. Carra says Upton voted to impeach President Trump, he is the second most liberal Republican Congressman and has been in office longer than Carra has been alive. Carra says it's clear Southwest Michigan is in need of someone new to represent them in Washington.

In addition to Carra, four Republican candidates for Michigan Governor attended and shared with the audience. Ryan Kelly, Ralph Rebandt (RE-band), Bob Scott and Even Space all were given time to share with the audience who they are and why they are running.
