UNDATED – Six people received injuries in a two vehicle accident in Elkhart County.

Elkhart County Sheriff's Deputies say 37 year old Julio Panama of Ligonier was driving north on County Road 17, approaching the intersection of County Road 45, just before 8 PM Saturday. A second vehicle, driven by 61 year old Robert Kanaley of Elkhart, was facing east and waiting to turn north.

Deputies say Panama was speeding and didn't stop at the stoplight at the intersection, striking the driver's side door of Kanaley's vehicle. Kanaley was not injured. Panama complained of chest pains. Three of his passengers, 39 year old Magali Carrasco, 15 year old Nataly Floriano and 14 year old Nurit Floriano, all complained of chest pain. In addition, 6 year old Nathum Floriano had stomach pain, and 5 month old Nicolas Floriano suffered a broken leg.

Panama was given multiple citations for operating while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury; never receiving a driver's license; speeding; and operating a vehicle with an unrestrained child under 8 years old.
