NE Indiana Unemployment Rates Go Up In June

INDIANAPOLIS – Jobless rates went up slightly around Northeast Indiana from May to June.

Information released by the Indiana Department Of Workforce Development shows that LaGrange County saw an increase in their jobless rate from 2.6 percent in May to 2.8 percent in June. However, LaGrange County is tied with Adams County for the lowest unemployment rate in the State.

Noble County and DeKalb County both had the largest increase in the area at three-tenths of a percent. Noble County went up from 3.9 to 4.2 percent, while DeKalb County rose from 3.4 to 3.7 percent. Elkhart County saw an increase from 3.2 to 3.4 percent. Steuben County went up from 3.2 to 3.3 percent. In the city listings, Elkhart/Goshen saw their jobless rate go from 3.2 to 3.4 percent.

Statewide, the jobless rate for Indiana was at 4.1 percent for the month of June.
