Topeka Man Escapes Injury In Vehicle v Buggy Collision

UNDATED – A Topeka man escaped injury in a vehicle versus buggy collision.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says a horse and buggy was traveling south on State Road 13, north of County Road 30 just after 2 PM Tuesday. A Chevy Silverado, driven by 21 year old Joe Fry of Topeka, was heading north on State Road 13.

Deputies say the buggy, operated by 45 year old Sharon Mast of Goshen, pulled in front of Fry and Fry struck the buggy. Mast was taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for neck pain. A passenger in the buggy, 7 year old Eva Mast, was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital for a cut to the head. Mast was given a citation for failure to yield. Fry was cited for not wearing a seat belt.
