Five People Injured In Two Separate Crashes In Branch County

UNDATED – Five people were injured in two separate crashes in Branch County on Monday.

The Branch County Sheriff's Department says 27 year old Jay Michael of Kendallville, Indiana was driving east on Copeland Road at 2:25 PM and failed to stop at the intersection of Fremont Road. He struck a northbound automobile driven by 86 year old Norbert Kunk of Coldwater. Both Michael and Kunk along with Kunk's passenger, 86 year old Martha Kunk, were transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Michael was given a citation for disregarding a stop sign. Assisting at the scene were the Fremont Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.

Just after 3:15 PM Monday, Branch County Sheriff's Deputies were called to an incident in Algansee Township. Deputies say 20 year old Emmett Johnson Jr. of Hobart, Indiana was driving east on Hoopes Road and going too fast when he entered a curve. Johnson lost control of his automobile, went across the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree. Both Johnson and his 19 year old passenger, Kendra King of Reading, were treated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance. They later went to a local hospital to be examined. Johnson was given a citation for impeding traffic. The Quincy Fire Department was also called to the scene.
