AUBURN – The Auburn Fire Department partnered with the American Red Cross and Rotary Club of Auburn to conduct a neighborhood door-to-door smoke alarm check and installation campaign on Saturday.

The event was part of a national Red Cross goal to reduce home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent in the next five years.

The Auburn team installed 99 new smoke alarms during the event.  The firefighters and volunteers also reviewed a Home Fire Safety Checklist and the importance of home fire escape planning with each resident.
